The Cannabis Control Commission also advises growers to cycle plants so they never have more than six plants flowering at one time. Keep a simple plant log and count the entire premises before adding another seedling or clone.

Lock the grow and block public view

The plants must be cultivated in an area equipped with a lock or security device. They also cannot be visible from a public place without optical aids. A hidden corner of a yard is not enough if the plants remain visible from the street or another public location.

Adult-use and medical cultivation are different

Massachusetts has separate rules for registered medical patients. The adult-use six/12 limits should not be substituted for a patient’s medical cultivation authorization, and a medical allowance should not be assumed to increase an adult-use household count without checking the current program rules.
