Making the Strain: Pink Panty Cream, Episode 1 | Defining Desire
I’m back, and this time I’m documenting the whole project: seed to harvest, then back to seeds. Project Pink Panty Cream starts with Strawberry Sugar, a few very specific things I want to find, and a tent full of possibilities that have not earned their names yet.

This first episode is called Defining Desire because that is where the hunt starts. Before I get attached to a plant, I need to know what I’m actually chasing. Pink color is part of it, but a pretty plant that loses what I loved about the original is not the win I’m looking for.

Strawberry Sugar: I want the pink without losing the personality
Strawberry Sugar is the best strain I’ve created, and the main goal here is a pink version that keeps the experience I associate with it. In the video, I call that an “aphrodisiac high.” That is my description of the experience, not a promise that a plant will have the same effect on everybody.
In my 2026 hunt, I found two phenos, one pinker than the other. I ended up choosing the less pink one because it had that familiar high. That tells you where my priorities are: I want the color, but I’m not trading away the reason I liked the plant in the first place just because its sister photographs better.
I selfed that selection and crossed her to her sister. Now I’m watching what comes out of those seeds. The pink S1 and pink S2 labels in the episode keep those groups separate, and I identify the S2 group as coming from the pinker pheno. At this point, pink Strawberry Sugar is the goal. The seedlings still have to show me what they are.
GG4: chasing a chocolate memory
The next part of the lineup is three original Gorilla Glue #4 selfed seeds from my homie Herb Santa. I remember smoking GG4 about five years ago and getting a distinct chocolate note, and that is what I’m chasing here.
I already have a chocolate pheno from my growmie Slim Thunder. In the episode, I talk about selfing that plant and wanting some GG4 options alongside it. Check this project grow journal which chases Oreoz for Chocolate terps. I’m not throwing names together and hoping the label does the work.
Domino‘s piggyback seeds: the weird side project
Then there are the three seeds from that odd piggyback growth on a leaf of my strain Domino. The growth was super frosty, and the seeds shown in the video came from that leaf. Obviously, that got my attention.
What I want to see is whether any of those seeds produce plants with more of that piggyback growth. I don’t know yet. As I say in the episode, only time can tell. Those seeds were small and deformed, so I wasn’t expecting every one of them to make it even through the opening stage. Interesting does not automatically mean cooperative.
Pineapple Sugar × Blueberry Sugar joins the lineup
The last group is Pineapple Sugar crossed with Blueberry Sugar. Pineapple Sugar is the most terp-heavy strain I’ve made, so this is another part of the project I’m interested in watching develop.
It also gives us the first little update of the run: less than two days later, Pineapple Blueberry was the first to pop. That is an observation from these seeds, not a final ranking. Nobody has won the hunt because they showed up first.
The opening days: labels, roots and the actual setup
The middle of the episode follows the practical start of the project, from preparing Rapid Rooters and labeling the groups to setting up the cups and tent. I use clear cups this time because I want to see the roots. I also revisit something that bothered me in earlier hunts: the drainage holes in those cups were too small.
The tent in this episode is my oversized 2 × 4 Spider Farmer setup, with two SF2000 lights and two tubs fitted inside. You see the humidifier and the early setup as it actually happened, before the plants have established themselves. This is the opening snapshot of this run, with changes still to come as the plants develop.
And yes, the coco coir and perlite are from my 2023 strain hunt. I’m reusing that old medium and re-amending it, which is why the episode spends time on the products going into the mix. It isn’t glamorous, but it is part of the account. The series would be a lot less honest if I skipped everything between the seed packet and the attractive plant photos.
TPS silica, FloraMicro, Dyna-Gro Grow and Jobe’s all-purpose are part of that segment. I explain my thinking as I work, including why I’m interested in the microbes listed on the Jobe’s label. The video shows this particular mix and its meter readings in context; this written recap is documenting the episode rather than turning one snapshot into a formula for every setup.
Day three: the first seedlings move into cups
At the day-three check, I report 13 out of 18 sprouted and start transferring seedlings one at a time. Earlier in the episode, I mention starting 20 seeds. Those are the two counts stated on camera; the episode doesn’t explain the difference, so I’m leaving it visible instead of inventing a tidy explanation.
The close-ups show what I’m paying attention to during the move, especially the roots coming through the plugs. By the end, I’m moving the seedlings with green, open cotyledons and leaving the yellow ones behind for now. That is where this episode ends: the first plants are in place, the groups are labeled, and the hunt has actually started.
There are no keepers to announce yet. I’ve got a pink Strawberry Sugar goal, a chocolate hunt, a strange Domino observation worth following, and a Pineapple Sugar × Blueberry Sugar group already making an appearance. Now I get to find out which of those ideas the plants agree with.
Questions about this episode
Is Pink Panty Cream a finished strain?
No, Out of 9 hunted seeds, hopefully one will merit the name and the best pheno will be selfied. This hunt is in progress.
Why didn’t I choose the pinkest Strawberry Sugar last time?
I preferred the familiar high of the less pink pheno. This project is my attempt to bring the color and the experience I’m looking for together.
Does the unusual Domino growth prove its offspring will do the same thing?
No. It’s something I’m watching for. The episode explicitly leaves that question open.
Where should questions about the run go?
Scroll down and comment. As I explain at the end of the video, I’m bringing the discussion to the site instead of answering comments on YouTube.
