Quick answer

The AC Infinity IONFRAME A7 is the first single light I have tested that genuinely fills a 2×4 tent without forcing you to run it anywhere near full power. In my test, level 3—about 30% power and 251 watts—averaged roughly 700 PPFD. That is already plenty for a normal flower run without added CO₂. It is expensive, but the coverage, headroom and detachable driver make the price easier to defend.

I have complained a lot about modern 2×4 grow lights because too many of them are really “almost a 2×4 light.” The middle looks great, the edges fall off, and the answer somehow becomes buying a second light. The IONFRAME A7 is the counterargument.

This thing is not really a traditional panel and it is not a normal bar light either. The long aluminum body acts like a giant heat sink, the driver can sit outside the tent, and the diode count is wild. More importantly, I did not stop at the spec sheet. I put it in a 2×4 tent, let the heat stabilize for an hour and measured what actually reached the canopy.

The headline number is not 2,200 PPFD. That is overkill for almost everybody. The useful result is what happened at level 3. At only about 30% power, the A7 gave me the kind of average intensity that other 2×4 lights need to run near their limit to reach.

Why the detachable driver matters

The driver gets hot. AC Infinity gives you enough cable to move it comfortably outside the tent, and I would. Heat that never enters the tent is heat your exhaust system does not have to remove. It is a simple feature, but it becomes a big deal in a small space during summer.

How I would actually run it

If I were starting seedlings under this light without a meter, I would begin around level 1 with roughly 38 inches of distance, then gradually increase intensity as the plants grow. I would not jump straight to 100%. More power is not automatically more growth, and blasting a canopy with light it cannot use just buys you extra heat and a larger electric bill.

My verdict

The A7 is pricey, but it gives you something most current 2×4 lights do not: real coverage with a huge amount of unused headroom. You can run it gently, keep the driver outside the tent and still hit a strong flowering target. If you care more about proven canopy performance than the cheapest sticker price, this is one of the few current lights I can call a legitimate single-light 2×4 solution.
