Spider Farmer SF2000 & SF4000 Review: 2022 Test vs. 2026 Models
Last updated: August 2026
Quick answer: In 2022, I bought two Spider Farmer SF2000 lights so my hydro-versus-soil comparison would use matching fixtures. The pair gave me a more even nine-point light map than the generic panel I tested beside them. That does not make the video a review of the models sold today. Spider Farmer has kept the SF2000 and SF4000 names while changing the diodes and other hardware, so this page separates my 2022 test from the company’s 2026 listings.
Important old-model warning: The lights in my video used Samsung LM301B diodes and Mean Well drivers. The 2026 SF2000 and SF4000 listings are not the same specifications; they now list Bridgelux diodes. I consider that component change a downgrade from the fixtures I reviewed, even though Spider Farmer says the current models maintain similar output and efficiency. Do not buy a new light expecting the exact hardware shown here. My broader State of the Indoor Grow Equipment guide explains why a newer model name does not always mean a better product.

What I actually tested
The goal was simple: remove one big variable from a side-by-side grow. I purchased a pair of the 2022 SF2000 panels and compared their light pattern with a generic Pan-Villo panel. The units in the video used Samsung LM301B diodes and Mean Well drivers. I recorded readings at nine canopy positions and three heights with the Photone app.
The generic panel sometimes produced a higher total reading, but the two SF2000 panels spread the light more evenly across the grid. At the shown 24-inch setup, the SF2000 pair kept all nine readings above 600 PPFD in my map while the generic panel fell below 500 at some points. That was the result that mattered to me: less of a bright center surrounded by weak edges.
The part that is easy to misunderstand
I spaced two independent SF2000 panels apart. That gap helped the light pattern and means the map should not be treated as a measured map of one SF4000. The video also used a phone app rather than a freshly calibrated laboratory meter, did not measure wall power, and did not test temperature, long-term reliability or every dimmer setting.
The old hanging-height comments were starting points for that room, those fixtures and that test—not universal instructions. Use the LED measurement guide to map the light you own across the actual canopy. If upper growth begins paling, curling or bleaching, compare the symptoms with the cannabis light-stress guide.

Did the lights produce a good harvest?
Yes. I later ran two complete grows and eight strains under the pair. The harvest video shows the flower and trichome results, while also explaining that two weaker plants had problems I did not attribute to the lights. That evidence lives in the separate SF2000 harvest-results review so this first-look page can stay focused.
2022 test versus current 2026 listings
| Detail | What this 2022 video covers | What the 2026 manufacturer lists |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware tested | Two separately hung SF2000 panels | Current SF2000 and SF4000 product generations |
| Diodes | Samsung LM301B was identified on the tested units | Bridgelux 3030 is listed for SF2000; Bridgelux is listed for SF4000 |
| Power | Not measured at the wall in this video | 200W ±5% for SF2000; 450W ±5% for SF4000 |
| Photon efficacy | Not independently tested | 2.7 µmol/J is listed for both models |
| PPF | Not independently tested | 608.5 µmol/s for SF2000; 1,171 µmol/s for SF4000 |
| Primary coverage language | Two panels were arranged for my test area | 2-by-4 for SF2000; 4-by-4 for SF4000 |
Those current figures are manufacturer specifications, not new HWGrow measurements. Check the current SF2000 listing and current SF4000 listing before buying. Spider Farmer has reused these model names across different generations, so match the diode package, wattage, controller, seller and warranty on the exact listing. Again, the new lights are not the same hardware I tested, and my positive 2022 results should not be transferred to them automatically.
Follow the hardware changes
If you are researching an older used fixture, the next two tests are useful: the 2023 SF2000 driver and dimmer update and the 2023 LM301H EVO versus LM301B comparison. Neither should be mistaken for the current 2026 Bridgelux listing.
Recommended lights and measurement tool

Spider Farmer SF2000The model family tested as a pair. Confirm the exact current generation, diode package, seller and warranty before buying.

Spider Farmer SF4000The larger SF-series model. Do not assume its current hardware or light map equals two spaced 2022 SF2000 panels.

Phone PPFD diffuserA lower-cost way to compare canopy positions when paired with a supported phone app and a consistent measurement method.

Spider Farmer SF2000 and SF4000 FAQ
Is this a review of the current Spider Farmer SF2000?
No. The firsthand test covers two 2022 SF2000 panels. Spider Farmer’s current 2026 listing uses a different diode package. The table separates the tested hardware from current manufacturer specifications.
Did HWGrow test one SF4000 in this video?
No. I tested two SF2000 panels with a gap between them. That arrangement changed the distribution and should not be presented as a measured map of one SF4000.
Why did the SF2000 pair win the comparison?
The generic panel sometimes produced higher totals, but the SF2000 pair produced the more even nine-point map in my setup. I preferred the stronger edge coverage over a brighter center.
Are the old discount codes still valid?
This article does not treat an old percentage or code as current. Check the final cart price, seller, shipping, warranty and exact hardware generation before buying.

Thank you. This is my 1st try. l am using your fox feed schedule. It seems to be working fine. I’m on week 8 and can’t wait. This is all so my medicine. Two time cancer survivor.
