Nutrient burn typically arises from overfertilization or the improper application of fertilizers, either through excessive nutrient dosing or high nutrient levels in the growing medium. It can also occur due to poor drainage, causing the accumulation of salts in the root zone. The excess nutrients can disrupt the balance of osmotic pressure within the plant, affecting water uptake and nutrient transportation. The accumulation of salts can cause dehydration and damage to the root system, resulting in symptoms that can be observed throughout the plant. Common symptoms of nutrient burn in cannabis plants include: <ol> <li>Leaf tips turning yellow or brown, progressing to necrosis or death.</li> <li>Leaf edges curling or "clawing" downwards.</li> <li>Leaf discoloration, including burnt or darkened patches.</li> <li>Stunted growth and reduced overall vigor.</li> <li>Lower leaves being more affected than upper leaves.</li> </ol> These symptoms are typically visible on the older or lower leaves first, as nutrients are transported upwards within the plant. However, if the nutrient burn persists or worsens, it can affect new growth as well. To address nutrient burn in cannabis plants, it is crucial to identify the source of the excess nutrients and take appropriate actions. This can involve adjusting the nutrient concentration in the growing medium, flushing the plants with clean water to remove accumulated salts, and ensuring proper drainage and irrigation practices. Preventing nutrient burn involves maintaining a balanced nutrient regimen, following recommended dosage guidelines, and monitoring the electrical conductivity (EC) or total dissolved solids (TDS) levels in the nutrient solution or growing medium. Regular observation of plant health and growth, along with pH monitoring, can help detect early signs of nutrient imbalances or excesses. By providing a carefully managed nutrient program and ensuring proper nutrient uptake, growers can help prevent nutrient burn and promote healthy cannabis growth and development. </div> </div> </div>
