VIVOSUN 32W 950 GPH Air Pump Review (Historical Test)

This is a historical test of the older VIVOSUN 32-watt, 950-GPH commercial air pump. The smaller VIVOSUN pump sold today has different specifications, so do not use this 2022 video as a review of the current model.

What happened in my test

I bought the larger pump to replace a 237-GPH unit and add more aeration. The metal body and six adjustable outlets felt solid, but the tradeoffs became obvious once it ran for a while.

• The pump produced a loud vibrating buzz compared with my smaller unit.
• It had no power switch, so turning it off required unplugging it.
• After roughly one hour in a 76°F room, I measured the outlet air at about 120°F with the thermometer shown in the video.
• Because I did not want that heat entering the reservoir, I returned the pump.

That was a practical test of one unit, not a laboratory test of every pump in the product line. Aeration can support dissolved oxygen, but it is not a stand-alone cure for root disease; reservoir temperature, sanitation, root health and the rest of the system still matter.

The current model is different

VIVOSUN’s current smaller six-outlet listing is rated at 15 watts and 317 GPH, not the 32 watts and 950 GPH shown above. Check the manufacturer’s current specifications before buying, and size any air pump for the actual reservoir, air stones, line resistance and noise tolerance in your room.
