If the crop fills the space, use multiple lines or sections rather than letting branches overlap. The room should smell like the crop—not musty, sour or ammonia-like. Any unexpected odor, visible fuzz, wet pocket or condensation requires immediate inspection.

Monitor the Dry Every Day

The first 24–48 hours usually add the greatest moisture load to the room. Watch the sensor more often during this period and after any door opening, weather change or equipment cycle. Record the daily high and low temperature and RH, not just the current display.

  • top, middle and bottom of the hanging zone;
  • inside the densest flower clusters;
  • near the intake and the farthest corner;
  • the thickest and thinnest branches.

If RH remains elevated, increase room air exchange, add dehumidification, reduce crowding or divide the plant into smaller branches. If the outside becomes crisp very quickly while stems remain wet, reduce direct air movement and correct an overly dry or hot room. Change one major variable at a time and keep inspecting.

How to Tell When Drying Is Finished

Do not rely on one cue. Use at least three:

  1. Surface feel: the outside is dry, not damp or cool-wet, but flowers do not crumble under light handling.
  2. Small stems: thin stems make a dry crackle and begin to break; thicker stems may still bend. Waiting for every thick branch to snap can overdry the flowers.
